Masumi Omae was born in Kyoto, Japan, and lives in Paris. She studied art history at the École du Louvre. Later, she worked in Paris for 24 years as a designer of hats, leather goods, and scarves for a French brand. She began taking Ikebana classes at the École Ikénobô and has been drawing flowers since 2022. The intention behind her flower drawings is to integrate living flowers into our daily lives through Ikebana, floral arrangements, and gardening, which allows us to experience the ephemeral beauty of plant life throughout the seasons. Her drawings are born from this source of inspiration : the fragile and luminous beauty of these living beings. Through the composition on paper, the expression of the flowers, and the harmony of colors, she expresses her own emotions and sensitivity. Whether we are happy, sad, or simply experiencing an emotion, flowers and plants always seem ready to embrace our feelings with gentleness and silence. She hopes that her drawings, too, will offer those who look at them a moment of peace, light, and serenity.
